A 65-year-old eatery started by Longuinho Almeda in the year 1950, Longuinhos is the stuff history is made of. It is something of a legend in Margao where locals and tourists alike visit it for its old-Irani-café-like ambience and superlative food. Add to that a long-standing team of employees and you have the magic that keeps it going. For example, Mario Fernandes, an employee has been serving customers at the restaurant for the last 35 years and the manager, Mr. Inacio, who spoke to us, has been here for the last 21 years. That says a lot about how well the owners treat the team.

Cuisine-wise, it’s best known for its Goan food – Fish curry rice, Beef Steak, Chicken Cafreal, Pork Vindaloo, Banchao, Sorpotel and of course, all the sea food it offers. It has an in-house bakery that bakes rolls, cakes and other snacks. The menu includes Chinese and Tandoori items as well.
